Front Desk

Janette – has been employed at SAH since 1990. She is a valued employee who knows everybody by name who comes through the doors! Janette knows every side of Surry Animal Hospital and chances are if you have a question about the hospital she knows the answer. She is the proud mother of two daughters, Courtney and Madison, and is very active within her church. She enjoys cooking, crafts, antique restoration and farming.  Her animal family consists of one cat, Tori, that she adopted and a back yard full of deer!

Cooky – has been employed since 1992. After being a full time employee for approximately 12 years, she often fills in on Saturday mornings. Cooky is known for caring for all the dogs that are dropped at her house and adopting needy animals! She is always wearing a smile and passing along positive thoughts!

Veterinary Assistants

Bridget – has been employed at SAH since 2000. A very knowledgeable assistant who goes beyond the call of duty. She is an excellent lab technician, surgical assistant and animal handler! She can answer questions before they are asked! She always has either a dog or cat that lost a home and offers her hand for and enjoys raising chickens.  She is married to James.  In her free time she enjoys camping, kayaking and hiking with the family dogs.

Sherry – has been employed since 1990. She first came as a part time employee only working weekends while working another job. She has been a full time employee for many years. If the lights are on at night/holidays, she is usually one of the people in the hospital as well as working her day schedule as well. She handles the kennels as well as all the other duties called for. Her home consists of numerous dogs and cats and she’s very active in animal rescue.  Sherry is married to Tim.

Laken – has been with SAH since 2011.  Laken can be found in just about any spot in our hospital as she’s become a very vesatile employee that feels comfortable in every area of the hospital.  Laken is the mom to three dogs (Georgia, Gunner and Carter), two  horses and is married to Orry.  Laken loves horseback riding and hiking.

Accounting

Karen – Originally from Dobson, NC, Karen along with her husband, Dr. A. Renfrow Hauser, opened Surry Animal Hospital, PA in 1976. At that time they were the only two employees of the office. She began as the receptionist and has since moved into the office manager’s role which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, employment and everything in between. She is the mother to two sons and daughters in law, with 6 precious grandchildren. She also has  numerous horses and goats.

Leah – began working at SAH in 2012. She is working in the accounting aspect of the hospital team. A graduate of Greensboro College, she lettered 4 years and was named All Conference each season on the college’s Lacrosse team. She and her husband Mark have a two daughters, Marlee and Annabelle, and a son, Henry.  They also have a rescued dog, Freckles, a goldfish, Fred and a donkey.  Leah also enjoys spending time with her children and spending time in the gym.
